Wessex Heartbeat

Updated: July 5, 2016

Wessex Heartbeat’s driving ambition is to help achieve the very best care for people with heart conditions treated in the Wessex Cardiac Centre.

The combination of excellent clinical teams and significant investment in the Wessex Cardiac Centre have turned it into one of the foremost Cardiac Centres in the UK and internationally. Despite this, what is best today can be made better tomorrow as advances in care happen, and we learn more about what patients and their relatives want and need to have the best experience as they are treated.

This is why what Wessex Heartbeat and its supporters do is so important. The more than £13 million we’ve raised together since the Charity was set up in 1992 has put in place crucial extra improvements in the Wessex Cardiac Centre, that wouldn’t otherwise have happened, and that patients, their relatives, doctors, nurses and others consistently tell us make a real difference. These include major projects to create Heartbeat House, the children’s Ocean Ward and the Heartbeat Education Centre, as well as regular funding of leading-edge equipment, clinical education and research.
